How We Tried To Install Kaspersky Internet Security in Windows 8.1



In this guide we will show how we tried to install Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 in Windows 8.1 OS. Unfortunately, KIS 2014 setup file is not support Windows 8.1, but in a nearest months, we know, that the Kaspersky Laboratory will include Windows 8.1 OS support. Additionally, we want to say, that Kaspersky Internet Security is the one of greatest PC security product on the market, and when the Windows 8.1 OS support will be officially presented, we will show successful installation guide in our blog.
Firstly, please download fully functional trial from Kaspersky Lab official site

To get the latest Kaspersky Internet Security setup file, enter your email as shown





Next step, Kaspersky Lab website will give us a direct link to download Setup file. It size must be about 245 or more Mbytes.




To check the file we have downloaded has no errors, please Right Click and Select “Properties”.





Please switch to “Digital Signatures” tab, select “Kaspersky Lab” as the name of signer, then press “Details” button.







New opened window will appear, that will contents the title: “Digital Signature Information – This digital signature is OK”. It means there are no any errors occurred during the download process.
Please close both “Properties” windows.




Since previous Windows OS versions to support program compatibility, Windows 8.1 has “Troubleshoot compatibility” mode also. Let’s try to use it.




In this window, please select “Troubleshoot program” mode as shown.






Then, we made these steps:
1. We have checked “The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won’t install or run now”
2. We have pressed “Next” button.
 




As far as we know, that Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 is officially supported in Windows 8 OS, we have selected this option, the we have pressed “Next” button. 




Now, to adjust “Program Compatibility Troubleshooter”, we need to press “Test the program…”





Kaspersky Internet Security will show initial installation window. Then we closed this window.






To proceed to the further step, please press “Next” button.






Now, we have made savings by clicking “Yes, save these settings for this program”





And then we have closed “Program Compatibility Troubleshooter.”
 





Our next step was executing setup by selecting from contextual menu “Run as administrator”






Windows 8.1 User Account Control informs us about verified publisher “Kaspersky Lab”, then press “Yes” button







On an initial Kaspersky Internet Security installation window please click to read “End user License Agreement”
 






When the end User License Agreement will be read, please press “Back” button.
 




To initiate installation process, please press the button as shown.






On the first steps installation progress was fine…




But soon we have received warning message with “Failed to install application”. Then we have pressed “Close” button.





The next warning window informs us that the unsuccessful result of Kaspersky Internet Security installation could be send as log file to the Kaspersky Lab Technical Support.






On a last warning window installation program advise us to use free Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool, which is not to be needed to setup up.
